Tomorrow, it will be something else… but that’s part of a growing business, you’re a part business owner, part firefighter and that’s okay!īite Toothpaste Bits – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?īite Toothpaste Bits is an all natural, zero waste toothpaste tablet company. Today, it was a printing mishap with our label company. I’ve been super lucky to be able to pull in some incredibly smart people (my long term boyfriend being one of them) to help build Bite to what it is now, but still, every day there’s a new fire. It’s all part of the adventure, right? This is my first business, and I’m figuring it out as I go along. Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome? Our Bits are free from harsh chemicals, dyes, artificial flavors, and unnecessary fillers and they come in recyclable, refillable or compostable packaging. I bought my own tableting machine, experimented with tons of different ingredients, I talked to every dentist and dental hygienist who would give me the time of day and even took open source online chemistry classes to develop the formula that we use today. Everything that was on the market, I either didn’t like the ingredients, or they were packaged in plastic too… so I decided to make my own. I had never read the back of a toothpaste tube until I started looking into alternatives and turns out, there’s some really nasty stuff in there. I’ve always been passionate about sustainability, but I was traveling all the time for work, tossing out those little travel toothpaste tubes that I envisioned sitting in a landfill somewhere, leaking out chemicals like SLS and triclosan and artificial dyes and flavors. When I learned that one billion toothpaste tubes ended up in landfills every year (that’s enough to fill up the Empire State Building fifty times, every single year!) I knew I wanted to make a change. So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsay McCormick. ![]()
